Quiet In The Night

Isn't it interesting how 'quiet' it gets at night.
Especially when you can't sleep.
Restlessness removes cobwebs and senses sound an alert.
Background noises come to the foreground.
Sounds of life gain volume until blaring.

Houses breathe.

Floors creak.

Refrigerators roar.

Faucets drip.

Breezes rattle screens.

Plants scratching outside.

A cricket's
crescendo.

And we usually sleep through all the din.

Blessings,
